Oldenburg Lodge And Game Park

Oldenburg Lodge And Game Park, Accommodation in Ladybrand, Free State

Description

Oldenburg Resorts and SBH African Tours and Safaris combine to bring you the very best of hospitality, accommodations, guided tours and wildlife safaris from a central location outside Ladybrand in the eastern Free State of South Africa. Oldenburg Lodge is a historic mountain lodge overlooking the rolling savannahs of the Modderpoort Valley and the high Maluti Mountains of Lesotho. It was designed to bring guests the feeling of peaceful heritage and beauty belonging to the site. The theme is a blend of Sandstone Colonial and Ethnic African. Facilities include our full-service Lodge, a variety of self-catering cottages and chalets, camping facilities for the adventurous and a large Convention and Entertainment Centre. This is used for a number of purposes including weddings and meetings. The Lodge itself is situated in our nationally recognised Oldenburg Game Park which contains an exceptional collection of native plants, animals and birds. This includes the previously endangered Black Wildebeest, a large herd of Africa's greatest antelope the Eland, which are indigenous to the area, and many other species of importance. Oldenburg is also home to several heritage sites including our unique Bushman cave paintings and farm buildings going back to the English period and earlier. The climate is pleasant year-round. The temperate climate precludes malaria and other tropical diseases. All modern amenities are available. The languages spoken are English, Afrikaans and Sotho. Available entertainments include, game drives, swimming, fishing, horse-riding, hiking, different kinds of tours, TV, internet, local guides, nearby restaurants and shops. Children can spend a day on our farms. We have curios and souvenirs reflecting local culture available in our Gift Shop. We feature South African cuisine and have a full bar. Transport can be arranged as required.

If peace and tranquility are what you're looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, then come to Oldenburg Lodge. Set in picturesque gardens with the Viervoet Mountain as a backdrop, unwind and relax in one of our comfortable sandstone dwellings with views of Modderpoort Canyon and the Maluti Mountains of Lesotho in the distance.

We have a number of Self-Catering Cottages and Catered accommodation in our main Lodge, the decor of which is a comfortable mixture of African Ethnic and Country Lodge throughout. Meals are served on request in our cosy dining-room, equipped with two fireplaces for those chilly winter evenings we experience in the Eastern Free State. Braai facilities are to be found at each cottage and in front of the main Lodge for those who prefer to cook outdoors whilst enjoying the surroundings.
